Young Street Dance Crews perform at Dance Factor Party 2016
Young people from across Lincolnshire took to the stage on Saturday night to show off their street dance skills in front of a packed audience at The Embassy Theatre, Skegness. The Dance Factor Party 2016 event featured thirteen dance crews of young people aged 11 - 18 from across Lincolnshire, who each performed a choreographed routine. The groups also benefitted from workshops during the day from professional dance artists Gareth Woodward and Marso Rivierie.
Although the focus of the party event was a celebration of the talent of all the groups an audience vote awarded ImMeNse6 from Moorlands, Lincoln the title of Dance Factor Lincolnshire champions 2016.
The event was the culmination of this year’s Dance Factor project which allows young people to get involved in street dance by participating in street dance sessions led by a professional Dance Artist. The project has enabled young people to gain access to dance in their local area, make new friends, develop dance techniques and gain confidence through creativity. This year’s event celebrated all the groups that have continued to run since Dance Factor Lincolnshire 2015, as well as new ones that have been set up.
Amy O’Sullivan, committee member of community group InspireDance, and the dance teacher who worked with ImMeNse6 commented:
“The Dance Factor Party was a fantastic event, and the standard of dancing from all the young people involved was amazing. I am really proud that ImMeNse6 were awarded the title of Dance Factor Champion 2016 -they like the other groups involved put a great deal of work into their performance and it really cametogether on the night. It has been wonderful to see the continued development of imMeNse6 throughout the Dance Factor project and I was overwhelmed by the audience support on the night.”
Groups who took part in the event were:
Outbreak from Sleaford, Expression from Birchwood, Fusion from Ermine, Tantra from St Giles, imMeNse6 from Moorlands, Impact from Horncastle, B-Beats from Quadring, Explosion from Long Sutton, #Squadron from Boston, Verve from Cherry Willingham, V.I.D from Skirbeck , Adrenaline Rush from Pilgrim Goalz in Boston, and The Elite from Spalding. In addition to the 13 Dance Factor groups, local urban dance school Top Limitz were special invited guests at the event.
